For many Australian expatriates, the financial picture is more complicated than it first appears.
Superannuation sitting in Australia. Investments held across multiple jurisdictions. Property in one country, income in another. Long-term retirement plans that have not been updated since the move.
Each piece may appear to be in order. But when no one is looking at the whole picture together, gaps can form and opportunities can be missed.
That is why Skybound Wealth Management is pleased to introduce Douglas Ryan, who joins the firm as a Private Wealth Adviser based in Dubai, specialising in financial planning for Australian expatriates.
Douglas works primarily with Australian expatriates living and working across the Middle East, supporting clients who need to bring their financial lives together across borders.
His clients are typically professionals who have built successful international careers while maintaining financial ties to Australia, the UK, or other jurisdictions. They often hold superannuation, pensions, international investments, property, and savings in more than one country, and want to bring everything into a clear, coordinated long-term plan.
The questions Douglas hears most often:
Originally from Australia, Douglas has spent more than 15 years advising expatriates and internationally mobile professionals on retirement planning, wealth management and cross-border financial strategy.
He began his advisory career at ANZ in Cairns before spending a decade as a Senior Financial Adviser at Value Plus Financial Services, where he built a practice focused on wealth accumulation, protection strategy and long-term client relationships. Most recently, he served as Head of Wealth Advice at Change Accountants & Advisors in Brisbane, leading the firm's wealth management strategy and overseeing advisory teams through a period of significant change and business transition.
He holds a Graduate Diploma of Financial Planning and an Advanced Diploma of Financial Planning, and is a member of the Financial Advice Association Australia.

"Douglas brings exactly the kind of specialist focus our Australian clients in the Middle East have been asking for.
Australian expats face a genuinely distinct set of planning challenges, superannuation, cross-border taxation, multi-currency exposure, estate planning across jurisdictions.
Having an adviser who understands that landscape from the inside, and who has spent 15 years building that expertise, is a real asset for the firm and for our clients."

"A lot of Australian expats I speak to have been getting on with their careers and quietly hoping the financial side will sort itself out. It rarely does without someone joining the dots. I am here to help Australians in the Middle East and beyond build plans that actually reflect the lives they are living."
If you are an Australian living abroad with superannuation, international investments, pensions, property or long-term plans that span more than one country, Douglas is available for a no-obligation consultation.
