Investment decisions will be made with the long term in mind, as we believe that is the best way to deliver strong client returns. And by long term we mean 5 years or more. A long-term focus encourages discipline, helps avoid making knee-jerk decisions, and lowers costs due to reduced trading fees. We believe time in the market, not timing the market, is the best way to deliver strong long-term returns.
Maintaining existing wealth is just as important as future growth. A long-term strategy utilising diverse portfolios that aren’t overly exposed to a particular asset or currency is the best way to ride out market volatility.
While costs are not the most important thing in delivering strong long-term returns, they do have a direct impact on performance. We are constantly researching new ways to reduce costs; however, any decision based on cost is always balanced against the long-term performance potential.
Investing shouldn’t be complicated – take a long-term view, diversify, and keep costs low. Part of that is also avoiding what we don’t fully understand and being wary of things that claim to guarantee returns, are complex or lack transparency in their structure or charges.
