Alexandra Merz is a Private Wealth Adviser at Skybound Wealth, based in London, working with the group’s UK and U.S. advisory businesses. A former Managing Director in energy markets at Goldman Sachs and J.P. Morgan, with an earlier Director role at Deutsche Bank, she brings more than 25 years of experience across international banking and financial markets, including almost a decade advising private clients.
She works with expatriates and internationally connected families on investments, retirement planning and wealth preservation, with particular experience supporting American clients and families whose financial lives span the US and UK.
Experience across global markets and private wealth
Alexandra’s career has included senior banking roles in London, New York and Chicago, working in fixed income and commodities. Her background combines leadership in international financial markets with years advising individuals and families on their personal financial futures.
From 1997 to 1999, Alexandra worked as an analyst in Merrill Lynch’s investment banking division, focusing on municipal bonds and public sector issuance.
From 2011 to 2013, she was a Managing Director at Goldman Sachs, where she led European corporate energy sales. Before that, she served as a Managing Director at J.P. Morgan from 2007 to 2011, with responsibilities including energy sales across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Her earlier career included six years as a Director at Deutsche Bank, working in European corporate power and gas sales and structuring.
Alexandra subsequently moved into private client advice, working at Vie International from 2017 to August 2026 before joining Skybound. During that time, she advised on investments and wealth accumulation through pension and general investment accounts, alongside financial planning relating to estate preservation and family protection.
Supporting families with financial ties across borders
Alexandra has particular experience working with expatriates, American clients and families with connections to both the US and UK. Their financial decisions often involve assets in more than one country, different retirement arrangements and tax implications that need to be considered alongside appropriately qualified tax advisers.
Her work spans the practical questions those families face: how to build wealth for retirement, save for children, plan for estate preservation and maintain appropriate protection as their circumstances change.
