Episode Description

We take a closer look at the UK Budget and what it means for UK Pensions.

Transcription

Good morning good afternoon or good evening welcome back to the expat investor podcast as always, I'm Tom Pewtress your host for today's show. Today is our UK budget special. Paul Butler joins me today and later in the show Carla Smart too.

  • Over the weekend we saw UBS agree to acquire Credit Suisse, closing the deal for $3.25 billion or 0.76 francs per share.
  • What does abolishing the pensions lifetime allowance (LTA) mean for somebody who has the UK pension then?
  • What do you think has driven the UK government to make this decision?
  • The UK government have also made an effort to encourage people to save more into their pensions, what have they done?
  • What should somebody be doing about these changes on the UK pension if anything?
  • There was useful confirmation of some changes to capital gains tax in relation to the transfer of assets on the break-up of marriage or civil partnership.

That's it from me this week, a big thanks for joining and as always this podcast is for educational purposes only and is not a personal recommendation. If you’re unsure what’s right for you, you should seek advice. Past performance isn’t a guide to the future, and investments rise and fall in value so you could get back less that you invest.
